This Internet site was developed by researchers at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and V-CC Systems to provide information and support to people experiencing stress due to SARS. Our goal is to promote the exchange of information and appropriate help-seeking information.
The SARS Support Centre was developed based on current research and theory in the scientific literature on SARS and coping with stress, including information from the The Panic Center, Canadian Psychological Association and Health Canada.
The purpose of this site is to increase the exchange of information and coping techniques by:
- educating users on the nature of SARS and coping with stress
- engaging users in positive coping with the effects of SARS by providing them with personalized results from a number of surveys, including an anxiety screening test that they can share with their family physician or other registered health care professional (The Anxiety Test)
- providing moderated support communities for people affected by SARS and health care professionals (Support Groups)
- Analyzing cumulative statistical data collected throughout the site for research purposes only. Individual statistics are not collected or distributed. Please review our privacy policy and this important legal information.
